A Personal Note

As the few frequent readers of this blog can attest to, I try to keep this blog as professional as possible for those clients that like to check in.

Well, tonight will be a little more personal – and I will probably move towards more personal posts… all because of something that I read that really hit home to me (especially as a web designer). I read an article about how easy it is to make a website “too” professional – actually turning people off to your site and business. For the life of me, I can’t remember where I read that article and after spending a good 30 minutes searching, I have decided to post about it and hopefully get the point across.

I have recently been troubled with the “false front” of a website’s homepage. You never really know the real people behind the scenes that are actually running the company. Its kinda scary really. What if you were signing up for a continuing education course with a new company, and wanted to sign up online with a certain company because they offered the entire courses online? Would you do it without even calling the company? What if the site had been up and just sitting there collecting unsuspecting visitors’ credit card information, then robbing them blind? You’d never really know.

I want people to know me and my company – what I’m all about and what my company or products can do to help. As most of you know, its hard to really get to know me. I don’t talk too much unless I really have something to say – I’m more of a “soak it all in before opening up” kinda guy when I’m with people I’m not completely comfortable with. If you could just see me at home with my family – you can’t stop me from talking (most of you are laughing in disbelief right now, but its true – just ask Lindsey).

If people can see and feel your personality from your website, they are more likely to request your products or services. Visitors want to feel comfortable from your website before they contact you – and they will probably feel like they already know you even before speaking with you. That is the age of technology we are in… remember the saying about first impressions ? With technology these days, their first impression is being made without us even being there. If they aren’t impressed with your website, they will never do business with you.

So, you know its already hard for me to open up if I’m not completely comfortable, but I’m going to try my best with this blog (and my website as future changes are made). Feel free to leave me comments or suggestions, things you’d like to see on my blog/site, or what more you’d like to know about me or my business.

Glad to see the world will get to know the Aaron we all know and admire – even if we only get a “glimpse” at the office!
    Keep up the good work

Yeah, there’s the guy I know and love. Okay, too mushy, but true. Loved your birthday list, too. Hope some of those wishes come true someday.
The new web design is great. I like it a lot.
    Way to go!
