What Do You Do

For all that don’t know “what I do”, I thought I’d whip up a little post on just that topic to give you an idea.

So, What *exactly* do you do for work?

At Work, I’m labeled as the: Operations Manager / I.T. Manager / Credit Manager.  A wide variety of hats to wear, I know.  I’ve been there over 6 years now, and I started out doing Credit & Collections for the company.  After a few years, and after gaining a good knowledge of the software and systems we were using, I took over as the I.T. Manager.  I get to manage all the computers, servers, software, etc., for the company.  It can be a daunting task most of the time, but it definitely involves something I absolutely LOVE – Solving Problems.  Almost 2 years ago now, I was given the title of Operations Manager – which I think is kind of a blanket-label for the guy ‘Solving Problems having to do with everything Credit, I.T., or anything our Broker/Agents come up against‘.  Sounds fun, huh!  It really is.

Away from work, I have had the great opportunity to build websites for family and friends.  I have been doing that for 2+ years now and really love it.  I recently just updated my own page at AaronBoynton.com along with this blog.  I enjoy the challenge of building a website around an idea and bringing that idea to the screen.  The only thing that I do NOT like about building websites is the time it takes (and I’m somewhat of a perfectionist, but who isn’t).  The time that I spend at home working on websites, is time that I’m not spending with my family.  If there was a way to do both at the same time, it would be awesome!

Ok, Now what do you do in your Spare time?

Spare time doesn’t come around too often.  When it does come around, there isn’t too much of it.  One thing I love to do is Drive.  I could drive all day, everyday.  Most recently, we thoroughly enjoyed our drive up the West Coast.  We drove to DisneyLand and then up the coast of California, into Oregon and Washington.  It was absolutely beautiful!  See Awesome Vacation post. Other things I enjoy doing are: working on cars/trucks, golfing, snowboarding, and boating.

Okay. So what’s in your future?

I believe the future is what you make it.  Right now, I’m working on making my future brighter by continually learning.  I love to learn.  I am currently still pushing through school, and I probably will be for my entire life – and thats not supposed to be a joke; I truly believe that “continued education” is a must-have in any profession.  You always have to stay at the top of your game by learning new innovations, tricks, and tips to make the most of whatever it is YOU do.
My next big hobby: Real Estate – I have found a real passion in owning, fixing up, and fully appreciating Real Estate – the problem with it for me has, and always will be, money. Although I have nowhere near enough money at this point, I have been given a great opportunity to manage my grandma’s old home, fix it up, and rent it out. I’m looking forward to every minute of it.

So… Thats what I do.  Now… What do YOU do?
