Great quote I came across months ago, and I keep thinking back to it over and over again…
“Anyone who says that economic security is a human right has been too much babied. While he babbles, other men are risking and losing their lives to protect him. They are fighting the sea, fighting the land, fighting diseases and insects and weather and space and time, for him, while he chatters that all men have a right to security and that some pagan god – Society, The State, The Government, The Commune – must give it to them. Let the fighting men stop fighting this inhuman earth for one hour, and he will learn how much security there is.” – Rose Wilder Lane
I think that about sums it up. If there is one thing that I absolutely hate, it is hearing people complain – especially when they want someone else to fix their problems. Instead of complaining, why don’t we all just work a bit harder than we might have been used to when times were easier? If it gets worse, deal with it and do everything you can. AND… what gives the “media” (and those incredibly stupid people with no life that leave negative comments on KSL news boards) the right to say that I chose a stupid place to live being so close to a refinery. Who has that Right? I live there, not them… and I love it! There is no greater place in my opinion. I’m not stupid and I knew the refinery was there when I bought (of course) and I don’t expect it to move just because I live there. EVERY piece of property out there has its pros and cons and its up to each person to weigh the risks. Life is too short to spend time criticizing other people and their decisions just because they seem ‘out of the norm’. Those that have time for that kind of thing, will probably be left in the dust when someone comes up with that next great idea to solve the world’s problems.
I realize I’m complaining about complaints. I’ll stop now.
